Statewide Broadband Inventory Maps (updated as of May 27, 2010)
Background
An important step in facilitating high speed (broadband) internet access is to create an understanding of local needs. By mapping the state’s existing broadband infrastructure, Connect Arkansas provides a level of detail that was previously not available in Arkansas. These maps show where access is available, and more importantly, where access is not available. With this information, broadband providers can strategically optimize their network deployment plans and communities can further their Information Technology (IT) planning initiatives.
In 2009, Connect Arkansas received a grant of $1.6 million from the National Telecommunications Information Administration (NTIA) under the State Broadband Data and Development Grant Program. This grant money allows Connect to map broadband access in Arkansas over the next two years. We are excited to have the opportunity to map broadband access and work with providers to extend broadband services to all Arkansans.
